In the third part of our series about Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Orlando, we take a look at some more of the attractions in the Future World section of the park.
Innoventions: The Road to Tomorrow
The Innoventions pavilion consists of two buildings – Innoventions East and Innoventions West. These are situated behind the Epcot golf ball and around the Innoventions Plaza.
The Innoventions buildings contain a number of different interactive exhibits which focus on different subjects including financial management, reducing household waste, fire safety and developing technology.
Innoventions East contains the following exhibits: The Sum of All Thrills; The Great Piggy Bank Adventure; Storm Struck: The Tale of Two Homes; The House of Innoventions; Don’t Waste It!; and the Test the Limits Lab.
Innoventions West contains the following exhibits: Smarter Planet; ThinkPlace; “Slapstick Studios”; Rockin’ Robots; Videogame Playground; Segway Central; and Where’s the Fire?
You can stop for a bite to eat at the Electric Umbrella Restaurant, which serves a range of main courses, including burgers and wraps, together with desserts and drinks. The Electric Umbrella Restaurant is situated next to Innoventions East.
The Innoventions Plaza is also often used for shows and you may see some of the park’s entertainers, such as JAMMitors, performing there. You can also buy a range of Disney souvenirs in the Mouse Gear shop near Innoventions East.
The Imagination! Pavilion
The main attractions in the Imagination! Pavilion are Journey into the Imagination with Figment, Honey, I Shrunk the Audience and ImageWorks – The Kodak “What If” Labs.
Journey into the Imagination with Figment is a 7 minute long ride which will take you into the “Imagination Institute”, where you’ll learn about the five senses. The ride features Disney’s purple dragon, Figment.
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience is a 3D show based on the Disney movie “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”. It lasts for just over half an hour (including the pre-show) and features giant on-screen animals, lighting effects and smoke.
ImageWorks – The Kodak “What If” Labs includes a range of interactive exhibits including musical stepping stones and a huge digital camera.
You can also buy Figment-themed souvenirs in the pavilion’s Journey ino the Imagination store.
In the next part of this series, we’ll be looking at the final two pavilions that you can visit in the Future World area of Epcot before you head into the World Showcase area of the park, or return to your hire car or hotel.
