<p>Topping the list is Wilfrid Thesiger&#8217;s &#8220;The Danakil Diary &#8211; Journeys through Abyssinia, 1930 -4&#8243;, in which the explorer and historian documents his 1930s trip to the country now known as Ethiopia.</p>
