It is no surprise that with California being such a large state that there is so much culture and diversity there. It is also no surprise that California is so large that it takes up most of the west coast. If you are planning a trip to California and want to see every city there, it will take you quite a while due to its size. However, you could just visit the top cities instead to give yourself a sense of what the state is like and maybe to help you decide whether or not you want to live there.
San Francisco
San Francisco is home to the Golden Gate Bridge. There are also many steep inclines that often lead you to the Pacific coastline. Visiting San Francisco will allow you to see a lot of architecture as well. The culture, sourdough bread, the piers and much more almost makes San Francisco a culture all of its own.
Los Angeles
Because of the acts of Hollywood on the big screen, the city of Los Angeles would be very familiar to many first time visitors. Although it consists of sandy beaches, mountain vistas and large skylines and you see it on television a lot, nothing will prepare you for actually visiting the city itself.
San Diego
San Diego is the second largest city in California and the ninth largest in the United States. San Diego is filled with agriculture, tourism, ship-building and much more. San Diego is also where you will find the famous San Diego Zoo and is home to the Pacific side of the U.S Navy. If you want to visit a calm and laid back city and a totally different place from Los Angeles, then San Diego is the city for you since it is calmer than Los Angeles.
Monterey
Monterey is different than most California cities because of its Mexican culture and heritage. If you are used to fun in the sun in most other California cities, you will view different things in Monterey. However, if you are into the deep culture of Mexican heritage, then this is the place for you. Although most California tourists are used to the breath taking beaches in coastal cities, you will still have fun with the kayaking and whale watching in Monterey. When you visit, consider staying at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Monterey California.
Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara is located between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the ocean. Because of the beautiful countryside and the pleasant beaches in this city, Santa Barbara is a major tourist attraction for many people. If you want to just get away from it all, Santa Barbara is one of the best places to go because of its wineries, scenery, luxury accommodations and the beaches.
Visiting California will have you in awe of the many beaches, Pacific coastline and tourist attractions. With so much to do and see in this wonderful state you will never forget a thing. Make sure to take a ton of pictures when visiting each of these cities to show your friends and family back home.
