Faro Airport is situated about 4km to the west of the city of Faro, in Portugal, and is the main airport for travellers heading for the Algarve. More than 25 airlines fly to Faro Airport from destinations throughout Europe and a number of airlines operate flights from UK airports to Faro.
The airport has one runway and one terminal, and the arrivals and departures halls are situated on the same floor of the terminal building. The Faro Airport car hire desks are located in the arrivals hall, together with several coffee shops and a tourist information desk. There are also a number of shops and food outlets, including a duty-free shop, in the departures hall.
There are no hotels at Faro Airport, but you will find a number of hotels to choose from in Faro itself, and it will only take you about 20 minutes to drive from Faro Airport to Faro if you hire a car. There are buses that operate from Faro Airport and there is also a taxi rank outside of the terminal, but there is no rail link from the airport.

Avis Car Rental is also available at Faro International Airport; the perfect starting point to explore the Algarve region. I would highly recommend exploring the well-preserved old town center or checking out the remains of the old Roman Walls. Don’t forget the beaches either, top of my list is the more remote Praia da Armona, you definitely need a hire car to get to this one, but it’s worth it for the peace and quiet once you’re there.
